I love color. I’m constantly thinking about color. I think about how to make it brighter and more vivid. I think about how to juxtapose it so that it screams or whispers. I think about the emotion that different colors stir. The strange thing about color is that it is an illusion. We construct it in our mind. That kinda freaks me out. I wonder what is really there that I can’t see. I love mystery! Anyway, here is another colorful painting (in my head anyway) of what I imagine to be a crowd of red poppies in a natural amphitheater.
The more I stare at this, the more I like it. Sometimes, it takes me a few days to really appreciate what I’ve painted. I know the difference between what I had in mind and what my hand decided to do. This was inspired by a monthly lesson I do with Nancy Medina of white lilies.
I’m learning to paint roses.
This Iris was painted for Challenge #7, Let’s Paint New Mexico. The photograph that inspired my iris painting was taken in Jemez, New Mexico. I am loving the purples.
I can not wait to start seeing blooms!
