I love poppies. I have never had luck growing them, so I paint them instead.
Today’s painting is an 18 x 24 inch oil of cactus blooms!
I love color. I’m constantly thinking about color. I think about how to make it brighter and more vivid. I think about how to juxtapose it so that it screams or whispers. I think about the emotion that different colors stir. The strange thing about color is that it is an illusion. We construct it in our mind. That kinda freaks me out. I wonder what is really there that I can’t see. I love mystery! Anyway, here is another colorful painting (in my head anyway) of what I imagine to be a crowd of red poppies in a natural amphitheater.
This is a local ditch bank in Corrales, New Mexico with the Sandia Mountains in the background.
I’m learning to paint roses.
I love the reds in this Iris painting. I think the blues are pretty kickin’ as well…and the greens! I also love the texture. I think I am just overall pleased with this painting. Maybe I am starting to get the hang of my experimental color palette. This one is a CMY plus white.
Just messing around with a relatively new set of primary colors. Cyan, Magenta and Yellow plus white.
