My name is Dawn and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I work as a housewife and I love to paint sunflowers. Thickly textured, brightly colored sunflowers. Actually, I love painting flowers in general.
I practice creativity and keeping a comfortable home for my family which includes chickens, dogs, fish, a desert box turtle named Fred and most importantly, my husband.
I first picked up a paint brush in 2000 or 2001. I can’t quite remember. I painted a few handfuls of paintings during that time up until about 2015. Painting was a hobby and I didn’t think to take it seriously. It is a bit different now.
I love my animals, reading, gardening, homey stuff and baking but painting seems to take up most of my time these days. During the fall season of 2015, I had an idea. I stared at some of the art on my walls thinking I didn’t like it. My tastes had changed and I no longer liked the art that was store bought and mass produced. I was happy with the few of my own paintings I had made over the years so I thought I should build on that.
I decided to do some painting. My goal was to replace every store bought mass print in my house with my own original art. The problem was that I didn’t want to stop painting once I had done that. Stay tuned!
If I had to sum up my personal taste, it would be colorful, comfortable and modest. I am a bit on the rustic side, yet still orderly. I love bright, bold, expressive color and touchable texture.
