18 x 24 Inch Still Life Red Poppies

This was an older oil painting (several months) that I revamped.  The first version is below.

  1. An artwork is never really finished, simply abandoned. Agree or disagree?
I like to say “Art is like talking; if you’ve said what you want to say, shut up.” Sometimes you have to reword what you say. πŸ™‚
Both versions are wonderful in their own way! The revamp shows how you’re maturing.

    1. Yup…I think that is true. I think the artist will always see something that could be done “better”.

Yay. Maturing. Excellent. That is exactly what I want to happen.

  2. At first I liked the first version until I compared the two and then saw that initially the colors pulled me in. But…..I see now that your revamped version is better and more sophisticated. I know that lately I have been using that word but it is true. Seems like your work has taken on more of a confidence and determination, hence, sophistication? Also more unified. The background on the original is very colorful and luring (to the eyes) but doesn’t have the unity as the second version has. So…in short…..lol I know this is an essay, you did a wonderful job on the revamping. πŸ™‚

    1. Yayayayayayyayay!!! The attitude I took with this one was…well, it will go in the garbage if I don’t do anything with it so what is the worst that can happen if I do mess with it?

        1. I purged my paintings this weekend. Took a bunch to thanksgiving dinner and have some more for a fundraiser auction thingy this Saturday. I needed space…so I am really really hoping this one is dry enough by Saturday night cuz i want it out of my house!
