Sunflowers in Green Vase 16 X 20 Inch Oil Painting

This is a 16 X 20 inch still life oil painting of a crowded group of sunflowers in a bright green vase.  I am painting sunflowers in preparation for the Mountainair Sunflower Festival at the end of August.

This vase of sunflowers looks like it just had a really big dinner.

  1. if anything I have to add is that poor sunflower on the bottom left is desperately trying to get back up in the vase with the rest of the Sunflower Fam…..and all you hear is a soft “scrape….scrape” with a golden sigh……lol

    1. Loll lololol. I know!!!! Margaret, I can’t look at anyone’s sunflower paintings anymore without seeing expressions on their faces and imagining what is going on in the group. Some people make frowny sunflowers, some smiley, some are scared, some are in a awe…then I look at real sunflowers and see the same thing!

    1. Nice! I like that! I also thought this little painting looked like there was a misbehaving sunflower up top that isn’t supposed to be there….and mom and dad are saying….jr, get down! Or….it is a rock concert and there is that one fan that just has to climb to the rafters to watch the show…

      Thank you!

    1. Thank you Laura. I like the feel of this one too…that granny apple green…but I also got a kick out of the painting because it reminds me of the jet puff marshmallow man from Ghost Busters…
