This is an 11 X 14 inch still life of marigold in a blue vase.  I love when they are blooming.  Bright!

    1. I found your blog through the bird day post at Laura’s. I’m glad I did. I saw you did lots of different things. I will enjoy getting your posts in my inbox in the time to come.

  2. Now we’re talking color! You know those are my favorites. πŸ™‚ Your paintings keep getting more impressive every day. Are you selling prints of your art or just the original paintings?

    1. Thank you. I actually remembered you liked blue and orange while painting these.

I just sell originals…and very very few of those. Etsy is really hard and Amazon isn’t any better, but Amazon is free except for commission until the end of next year so I will continue to list there for a while. I don’t even think I have gotten any visits to the Amazon site. I have had it for several months.

        1. I have not. My nephew keeps telling me I need to get them hung at one of the places he does but I haven’t. He hangs stuff in his tattoo parlor also, but my style does not quite fit in and people are not looking to buy art other than for their skin in that setting. I think I must feel like it is not time. I think I also look for excuses not to do it…so there is that.

        2. Eventually I’d like to do craft fairs. That’s always appealed to me, and there are so many around our area. It will be awhile, though. And I’d probably want to do prints not originals, and I know nothing about how to do that. So, I’ve got a big learning curve ahead of me.

        3. I have a camera that does 20 mega pixels. I don’t use it because I have to sync it to the computer, but I think canvas prints would be cool. I wonder if that makes a good enough print picture or if you take the painting to a shop? I should look into that.

  3. This is gorgeous, Dawn. I love the colours – how the blues and turquoises of the vase and background blend, but at the same time remain distinct. And the shadow really pops the marigolds out. Wonderful!

    1. I am so glad you recognized them. It is my first try at marigold. I have some of them yucky artist loft canvases that I was using to practice yesterday (marigold brushstrokes) which is basically just a modification of the one brush stroke I know, so not bad. Anyway, I was using left over paint that I had just scraped off the palette and it was basically a sick gray color so I was laughing at how, terrible the practice marigold looked in the color I was using. Yucky! Orange is much much better.

      Thank you very much Laura.

    1. Thank you very much Margaret. Appreciate that. I am obsessed with color, no fear here. I’m glad to suprise youπŸ˜€ I was looking at pictures of what color blind people see yesterday. 1 in 12 men because the gene defect is on the X chromosome so men are more susceptible to it because they just have 1 X and we have 2…so much rarer in women, but still common like 1 in 250 I think?
