Candle Light III Oil Painting

This is an 11 X 14 oil painting depicting candle light.  I have been using quite a bit of blue this last week and this picture is really blue.  I like it.  It is simple.    I think it is calming.  The colors used in this painting are phthalo blue, permanent rose, lemon yellow and titanium white.

    1. Thank you Laura. I appreciate that. I’m wondering what it would look like with a more cream colored candle rather than blue. Would it be more peaceful, less or the same?

    2. Every candle I have painted I have chosen blue…subconscious decision? I have no idea why I associate candles with blue.

  1. Okay, well maybe it is a little bleak and ya, there is some texture in the wax and table…but still! It is different than normal so take that you quiz.

  2. This is so different from what you usually do. I would never have guessed it was yours. I was truly surprised when I saw your blog name above it. I really like it. The candle glow is just right, and it is very calming. It puts me in a reflective mood. What a nice little surprise from you today!

    1. Thank you! I’m trying to go against what the stupid quiz said about me. Yes, I like bleak but I am not a 6! And I can do smooth brush strokes and I like them too, I don’t have to be a 12 in the painterly category.

        1. Well…yes. But if you look at some of my older posts, my here is a turtle and a walrus and a few more candles, a crow, a frog some pigs and skulls and stuff, so it is not unheard of, but I have been keeping to flowers lately, some thought I should branch out.

        2. I think the comments close automatically after 2 weeks so you can’t comment on older stuff. I definitely do go through color phases and subjects but my favorite will always be flowers. I like animals too.
